Information You Provide Directly to Us

We may collect information that you provide to us directly or through submitted information such as your membership form, contact form, volunteer form, event signups, etc. The information collected will only be utilized for the purpose it was submitted.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.  The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here:  After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

We may use cookies when you:

    • login;
    • take a survey;

We may collect information via our website or other sources to improve our services, information, or offerings.

If you take a survey, you may be required to accept cookies to retain your session as you complete the survey questions especially if there is more than one page.  Depending on the setting, you may or may not be able to return to the survey if it has not been completed but please try to complete in one setting to avoid the possibility of losing your entries and having to start over.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment or engage in other exchanges, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely or as long as the comment is displayed.  This helps us better track the comment and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you register through our website, we may also store the provided personal information in the user ‘s membership or newsletter profile.  For membership profiles, you can see, edit, or delete your information at any time (except they cannot change their username).  Website administrators can also see and edit that information.  But if you sign up for newsletters or other group distributions, we retain the information to be able to send the needed distribution. There will be an option to “unsubscribe” with each distribution. For all other registrations, we retain the data only for as long as needed to conduct the related business.

If you take a survey, we may retain the results indefinitely to be able to track trends and responses over time. But any survey data displayed will only contain randomized responses so there is no traceability to any individual participant.

If you make a donation, purchase, event payment, or other financial transaction, we may store your financial information to ensure payment success and potential refunds. However, we may not need to store any financial information if we utilize third party sources.

What rights you have over your data

You can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. However, this does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, financial, or security purposes.

We understand that you may have a sensitive story or other content for public post. Who we share your data with

Our privacy policy specifies that we will not share or sell your data with any third party including government entities unless required to by law. We operate independently of any other group or organization to ensure that our direction is driven by the PC community itself through feedback, comments, survey responses with our group members or through our contact form and emails.

However, we are an organization run by volunteers who may have access to internally stored information but we will do our best to limit access to all of our data to those who have a legitimate reason for access.

However, your comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. And, your payment information may also be sent to a third party (PayPal, etc.) if we use their services for completion of purchase or processing of the payment. Also, we have no control in how or where the technology hosts store and manage the website, emails, or other information that passes through it.
